Locking away knowledge behind corporate doors to rob the citizens of this planet of their community knowledge and advances for private profit.

With the way the US is currently (capitalist profit motive), I could see having some sort of patent law, 5 years maybe to allow for recoupment of any development costs, but at that point everything should be open sourced for the world to use.
