High-Fives and Dope Slaps: Did the Grinch steal Christmas charity this year? (Kerry related) [View all]

In a move that is not that frequent in the Boston Globe, this blog gives a high five to Kerry

High Five: John Kerry meets with Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. I’m pretty surprised this move didn't inspire more outrage among the right wing in the blogosphere; I only read one negative article, in the National Review.

It’s true that the Muslim Brotherhood played a major role in founding Hamas and that they’re typically anti-American, but that just gives us even more reason to get ahead of the game and try to establish diplomatic ties with them. The “Brotherhood” was elected by 40 percent of the Egyptian people, so we have to recognize them as a legitimate political force. Taking a hard-line political stance against them will just heighten the perception that America is anti-Muslim at a time where we could use allies in the Middle East. To ignore the popular election of Egypt’s new government would be risking the loss of a critical ally.

Good of Warren to finally post something about civil rights. Note however that the Globe tries to make Brown less anti-gay rights than he is.
