7. I grew up on Star Trek.

And I find myself believing (or maybe hoping) that we can live in that Star Trek world someday.

Mind you, I'm talking about the science--though being able to transport my shopping cart home to my kitchen would be nice--I want to live in that all-races-and-genders-can-be-their-best-and-contribute-equally kind of world.

Right now, I would settle for weapons that can knock someone unconcious without harming them. I don't want police officers to die in the line of duty, but I'm sick of hearing about innocent people or those committing non-violent crimes being killed so easily.
