5. I played 2 person volleyball for a number of years in Florida. The less clothes the better

A couple of things you find out when you play 2-person volleyball in the hot sun for 4-6 hours a day.

1. All beverages other than water are bad. You would think that gatorade/powerade or any of the sports drinks would be good for this situation. They are not. I cannot tell you medically why this is, but virtually everyone playing had the same experience. We all tried gatorade during our workouts but it does something bad to your body after 4-5 hours in the sun running around in the sand.

2. You want as little clothing on as possible. Not only does it make you hot and sticky, running around that much for so long in the heat and diving around in the sand, it chafes.

The other thing is, once you get used to something, a particular hat, or whatever kind of clothing, any change makes you uncomfortable and that is the last thing you want to be thinking about during a game.
