9. I have quit almost as long as you. What I remember is hangovers, acting like an ass and guilt.

When I see people in the movies or on TV drinking hard, I feel a little smug about knowing where it will eventually lead them. Been there, done that kind of thing. Regardless of what some folk believe, I don't think that alcohol improves any facet of life; it just creates illusions.

For the past year or so, my wife and I have been watching British crime dramas where the totality of life is work and pub with little room for anything else except extramarital affairs. While it looks fun from the outside I sense ruin and depression behind the scenes.
