or 4.5 scoops of beans per 24 oz. Water.

Measure before grinding.

This was with a Zevro, which is not made anymore, but is like a French Press in that it steeps for 4 minutes and then filters.

I switched to a knockoff K-cup maker and Safeway Italian Roast, all good and low priced. I only make one cup a day and have earned a laziness merit badge due to age.

That said, I had many a fine French Press coffee. Just adjust the beans to the desired strength.

PS did you tilt the freezer? If they are not "vertical", the fluid needs to rest for a time (like a day when you move one on its side) to accumulate where it needs to be. This came up when I got an SUV to replace the 20 year old pickup that bought the farm. Miss it. Glad that the unit started up OK.
