Bought one of the mini chainsaws. [View all]

The last couple weeks we have been having storms here in Texas. I’ve had a lot of tree limbs come down during this. All of them max 3” size. About 4 weeks ago I bought one of the Saker mini battery powered chainsaws. Caught it on sale. I don’t know how durable it will be. But so far I’m glad I bought it. I already had a couple gas chainsaws and a corded one. The mini has worked great so far. I have my second pile about 6x6 foot round and 3 foot high of cut branches. I can see myself cutting back my fig tree this winter with it. It’s overdue already. But don’t want to cut while it has figs on it. Plus not the best time anyways. Have hurricane season coming so I expect to be using it a lot.

For limbs to be picked up here it has to be cut into 3’ pieces and bundled normally. After a hurricane the city will pick up if cut and by the road. I think with a little extra work I could cut 5” branches. But unless it was just a few cuts I’d be better off using one of the gas or corded ones. Thing I also like about it is it’s one handed. I can hold the branch with my other hand. Yes, I keep my other hand away. I’m oldish and have some nerve damage in my left hand so that’s another reason for me to get one. It doesn’t vibrate like my bigger ones. All it takes is making sure it’s charged, check chain tension and a little bar oil.

If you’ve thought about it I’d say go for it.
