No question. And I would be suspicious of someone who truly disdains them. But a love of dogs is no guarantee of compassion towards other people. Hitler loved dogs. Some very obnoxious people dote on their pets and treat other humans like crap. The Nazis outlawed animal experimentation because they thought it was barbaric.
