Mysteries were my first favorite genre, all the way back to elementary school.

Biographies were a close second. Our school library had a good-sized collection that I devoured. One series had faded blue cloth “library bindings” and silhouettes and a few other black and white illustrations. I read all the scientists and presidents and investigative journalist pioneer Nellie Bly who went around the world in 72 days, nurse Florence Nightingale who founded modern nursing, nurse Clara Barton who founded the Red Cross…

I have two biographies of Vincent Van Gogh and one of Ruth Badger Ginsburg in my non-fiction stack now. May have to look for the She Wolf of France next trip to the library.
