The movie, with Tom Hanks playing Sully, was well done. Nice to see the Richmond paper get the 'ditched' terminology correct. In the movie, Sully made the point that he deliberately chose to land on the river (ditched, as in forced landing on water) as opposed to 'crashed' on the Hudson, which was portrayed as the go to description at first.
