1. Changed "in an attempt"?

The Smith & Wesson rifle was changed in an attempt to enable it fire in fully automatic mode, while the DPMS weapon was modified to use a large-capacity magazine, she said.

I call bullshit twice. How does one fail to convert a weapon to full-auto and still end up with a usable firearm? The only thing I can think of is that they tried to mount a bump-fire stock, but how does one fail at that? Furthermore, since magazine capacity is a function of the magazine and not the gun, the only modification that makes sense is that they removed the bullet button system, which means they made it capable of accepting any magazine, not only "a large capacity magazine."
