Alaska suicides for 2015: 201 for a population of 738,432. That's 27.22 per 100,000. (All means= 201, firearms= 123)
Alaska homicides by firearm for 2015: 42 for a population of 738,432. That's 5.69 per 100,000.

Illinios suicides for 2015: 1,363 for a population of 12,859,995. That's 10.6 per 100,000. (All means= 1,363, firearms= 495 )
Illinios homicides by firearm for 2015: 692 for a population of 12,859,995. That's 5.38 per 100,000.

Illinois is a Democratic stronghold in presidential elections and one of the "big three" Democratic states alongside California and New York. It is considered one of the most Democratic states in the nation in presidential contests.

I blame Governor Rauner for that anomaly. Electing a Democrat would cut homicides in half.

Since I live in a safe Democratic state, maybe I'll take a walk through downtown Camden tonight.
