Texas Tech University Police Officer Shot and Killed, Suspect Now In Custody

A Texas Tech University police officer was shot and killed Monday night at campus police headquarters, causing the Lubbock, Texas, campus to be placed on lockdown for more than an hour.

NBC News reports that incident started after officers responded to a call for a student “welfare check.” When the officers got to the room, they found drugs and drug paraphernalia, which prompted them to take the student to campus police headquarters.

A spokesman for the school said in a statement, “During this time, the suspect pulled a gun and shot an officer in the head. The officer is deceased.”

The suspect, who has been identified as 19-year-old Hollis A. Daniels, was tackled by a campus police officer around 9:30 p.m. CT, near the Jones AT&T stadium.

We have an armed, druggie white kid here, and the cop let his guard down long enough to be killed by him.
