8. I've been a C.J. Box fan for some time, now.

I believe he has a brand new Joe Pickett novel out, which I'll have to reserve at the library. Box captures the contemporary American West as well as anybody writing today; his books are wildly popular in places like Denver. Joe Pickett is a great protagonist, because he always insists on doing the right thing---even if it gets him in loads of trouble.

I loved "Blood Knot," because of the beautiful, concise writing and the subject matter. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. As to the other short stories in the collection, "Antelopes of the Third Reich" is worthwhile, just for the title alone (and its grounding in historical fact).
