1. Fifty Shades of Gray has been all the talk lately.

I've not had it in my hands, but the descriptions are that some women are finding the book to be pretty steamy stuff. Other people are making fun of it claiming it is poorly written dreck. As a former bookseller I am pretty pragmatic in my views--I figure there's a lot of crap out there that makes money for somebody. If that crap makes anybody happy by reading it, then more power to them. Any time somebody says a book shouldn't be on the shelves that garners a lot of attention but it actually helps boost sales.

I sold a lot of what I thought was crap over the years, and I sold some good stuff. Usually the most sensational stuff was crap.

YMMV.

I'll have to look for that radio show now.
