that modern autism is something from our Neanderthal ancestors, I wouldn't be surprised if there was some sort of connection. Not all autism, certainly, but perhaps Neanderthals really did think differently, just as those on the autism spectrum do. Especially those with the now forbidden diagnosis of Asperger's, most of whom are extremely smart.
