No room at the inn for S.D. Gov. Noem, who issues hateful comments about desperate immigrants [View all]

Gov. Kristi Noem has said things she regrets — or should, anyway — before. Well, she’s done it again.

In May, Noem told the Cheyenne River and Oglala Sioux tribes to remove checkpoints they had established to protect their tribal members from Covid-19. The tribes declined, saying they had the right to safeguard their land and people.

There was a lot of fuss and threats of court fights and then, well, not much happened.

On March 8, Noem issued a tweet after the state Senate approved a bill prohibiting transgender females from playing high school or college sports. She said she was “excited” to sign the bill as soon as possible.
