One thing that's really galling is that some in the media cherry-picked sentences from Hillary Clinton's remarks on how to work with miners through a transition to a different type of energy and made it sound as though she was declaring a vendetta on them instead of expressing empathy and an intention to help. Some of the fact-checkers got the story right, but the damage was done.

And in an unrelated but equally disturbing note, if the GOP makes good on its threat to repeal the ACA, miners suffering from black lung will have greater difficulty accessing benefits.
