Some years back, the NYT acquired the Globe, so it's not even analogy level anymore. Both those papers were once very liberal, but have become less so.
The Globe is still far more liberal than its chief competitor, the Boston Herald (which Murdoch once owned).

Edited to add: To clarify, the NYT did acquire the Globe, but has sold it. Tip of the hat to Fla Dem.

Part of it is, and all of this is IMO, sheer hubris. Which may have been the HRC is inevitable
