2. Sadly, that's still common in urban and suburban areas as well. Bad human nature.

When I've taken my daughters in for exams (pre-18), the doctors always asked me to leave for a while for questions like "When was your last period? Have you ever felt physically threatened by anyone? Are you afraid now?" I completely approve of such questions. It at least gives the girl the oppornunity to confide in a respected adult.

Twas not always the case.
