I think that some movies stand quite perfectly on their own. And isn't the movie a little "long in the tooth" to be making a sequel of it? I can't imagine exactly where the story would even go from where it ended. BR was IMHO the classic example of a good standalone movie. It told a great story and, while somewhat open to interpretation at the end, basically resolved the main plotline of Deckard hunting down the replicants and then leaving to somewhere unknown with Sean Young's character, who was also sort of an enigma as well. BTW one of my favorite Japanese anime miniseries, Bubblegum Crisis, gave more than a few nods to the movie.
