I just got bloodwork in... [View all]

It's the first a1c test I've had since I was diagnosed back in October. My a1c was 13.7 then. I've eaten very low carb and have eliminated as much sugar as I can from my diet. I'm also on humalog and levamir.

Anyhow, the new a1c reading was 6.4! I was very excited to get that result. Most days, my glc level is between 100 and 140. It's rare that I spike over about 170 because I match up my meals and my humalog shot; basically, I budget carbs to match the number of units I use,

As a really nice extra, my total cholesterol was 155, with triglycerides at 97 and the LDL/HDL ratio at 2.8. Altogether a very good checkup. Now I'll see if I can get the a1c down into the 5's.
