...but those Senators are of the red state variety, who so many people, including DUers, have told us repeatedly, are forced to vote for conservative legislation because, if they don't, a republican will take their seat (or they'll abandon it, and the party).

I recognize the politics here, but it wasn't being perverted by the Democratic leadership managing a razor-slim majority with red state members voting with the republican opposition.

What threat do you think Schumer or Jeffries could present to those red staters which was more important to them than the conservative votes they were chasing?

As far as I know, the only thing that can stop Democrats from bending on immigration votes is to continue to push to pass a comprehensive immigration bill.
