I had a reflective moment upon awakening this morning... [View all]

My father of blessed memory passed away a couple days after the election of 1996, and from what I was told by the hospital staff, he awakened from his stupor and asked the nurse who won the election and when she replied “the President”, he said “good” and fell back asleep, never to awaken again. As far as I know, those were his last words.

He told me something during President Clinton‘s first term that made a lot of sense. He said that these political pseudo-philosophers on TV think they are literally brighter and more astute than any of the politicians and feel that they operate on a level above them intellectually. What maddened them exceedingly about Clinton was that he was clearly Brighter than any of them and also attractive to women which made them doubly insane.

My dad used to use George Will as an example of the effete snob who, when he speaks, is acting as though he’s measuring his words so that the rest of us can Comprehend his erudition and extremely complex frame of reference. He said it’s all self-righteous bullshit and noblesse oblige.

All I can say is that if my parents were alive now to witness this disaster, this Death of America-as you-knew-it, they couldn’t stop vomiting.
