On Christmas Day, My Wife and I Watched "The American President." [View all]

It's a Rob Reiner movie, for one thing, and it dates back to 1995, when things seemed a lot simpler. It's also a Christmas Movie, which added to its appeal.

I hadn't seen it since it first hit the theaters, so it seemed pretty fresh to me again.

What a rare thing: A romantic comedy and a political movie rolled into one. Thank you Rob Reiner! We miss you.

What struck me the most, though, was the political tone it took. It was set in a time when politics were still rational to a large degree. Would that it were so today.

It ended well, but it's a romantic comedy, so of course it did. But, we could have a movie that put romance and politics on the same level. Again, would that it were still so today.

If you want to watch a Rob Reiner movie, I recommend it. You'll enjoy it, I'm certain.
