I think swing votes are really no more 'impressionable' or easily swayed - than 'core groups' (especially on the right, but truthfully, probably going both ways) - who are completely captured and consumed by 'message'.

'Swing voters' are strongly characterized (perhaps their most dominant trait) by a tendency to disbelieve (and to a certain extent 'disdain') appeals and information coming from either camp ... "All the same .." "All crooks .. "
