he did it because he thought he could. That's the over arching narrative

the gop congress sat on their hands then gave him permission after the fact.

he cares nothing for the states or states rights. He thinks he's the state (hat tip to Louis the 15th). and it doesn't matter if he stops all the state elections, he has to just prevent enough of them.

he has a private army now in ice.

you think he's going to waste them? the killing and beating protesters are just the warm up.

as I said to my wife when she asked me, "how much worse can it get?" I responded, "oh so very much worse. this is just the warm up".
