11. In California we have to prove citizenship when we register to vote, all registered voters receive their ballots by mail

We do still have polling places and it is ok to register to vote at a polling place on election day. but yes you must still show proof of citizenship to register
then vote.
Most of our voter registration is handled by our Department of Motor Vehicles who also issue the new, Real IDcards. When you move and notify the DMV of your change of address, they update your voter registration.
