(20,097 posts)For instance:
The social worker visiting Mr Hillard.
The scenes w Mrs D and "Dude Look Like A Lady" song over.
Mr Hillard describing to Mr Lundy (TV boss) how boring the Science guy was, and how he would do the dinosaur info.
MASH
Hawkeye, ribbing Frank, later Charles. The time Hawkeye jumped on the mess hall table to demand was it ?better food. Klinger and his shenanigans.
So much more!
Lou Grant (The Newspaper Show)
This scene is personal to me.
The production team doing old fashion paste ups, and mechanical goes on strike.
So Lou, and his staff have to do them instead. They sit on these high stools, working on these slanted desk tops, where the newspaper's thick paper "boards" are put to add the headlines, subs, text, ads, and indicator places for photos to be dropped in later at the printers.
Copy is generally parsed out space wise but never completely accurate. Thus the editor comes in, and directs - cut and paste editing; sentences, a word or two. Like all the way down to "commas", and "periods " as the tiniest adjustments! They on TV, and I in real life weld an exacto knife precisely!
While not remembering the exact name I will make one up...
One of Lou's associates drops a word on the floor. He's bending over on the stool looking for it, maaaaybe has to get down on the floor...
"I've lost The Queen of England", he announces. Baaaahahahaaaaa!
