(1,397 posts)...allows for consideration of more factors in the driver's condition, skills, possible deficits, and other more tangential aspects (other chronic health conditions, vision, if any medications affect driving, etc).
A longer assessment can also help to provide the driver with any possible assistance -- there are evidently occupational therapists/driving coaches who may help fine-tune or suggest workarounds. They can also educate the driver and any family members about things to look out for over time that might suggest a change in ability.
