5. I think Jeff Shaara's historical novels are very worthwhile.

It seems to me that his father's "Gods And Generals" has attained somewhat of a cult following over the years---and I say that as an admirer of that fine book. Yet and still, I believe Jeff Shaara's works are better than 90% of the wartime fiction we see coming out, these days. Just my opinion.
