AStern's JournalFormer Alex Jones employee says: 'It was nonsense, it was lies'
Josh Owens spent four years in his 20s as a video editor and field producer for Jones and his media company. "In Jones' world, it was all about making things look cinematic," Owens says. "We would go out there, we would shoot videos and almost like Vice News like, we were in the weeds, we were showing what was really going on. ... But it was nonsense, it was lies."
At one point, Owens was dispatched to El Paso, Texas, because a conservative website had alleged that ISIS had established a training base just across the border in Juarez, Mexico. Finding no evidence of ISIS, Owens says the Infowars team dressed a reporter up to look like an ISIS operative and filmed him crossing "the border" while holding a prop of a severed head. Except it wasn't actually the border.
"We just happened to find a little stream that looked like it could be the Rio Grande," Owens says. "We said we were on the border. The reporter I was with simulated the beheading, walked across, and that's what we posted."
Owens says the video of the fake ISIS agent garnered a million views overnight. Infowars did not respond to a request for comment.

ICE agents will be stationed outside Marine Corps graduation events in South Carolina
As the U.S. continues to fight the war in Iran, the Marine Corps has boosted protection measures on bases, requiring everyone to present REAL IDs, passports or birth certificates to access any sites.
As the U.S. continues the war in Iran, the Marine Corps has boosted protection measures on bases, requiring everyone to present REAL IDs, U.S. passports or U.S. birth certificates to access any sites.
Undocumented immigrants are generally ineligible for federal REAL IDs and dont have U.S. passports or birth certificates. So people without identifying documents who arrive at the gate of Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island in Beaufort, South Carolina, for recruit family days and graduation events this week may now have to answer to Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials, the Marine Corps said.
Because of increased force protection measures at the recruit depot, "federal law enforcement personnel will be present at installation access points to conduct enhanced screening and lawful immigration status inquiries during recruit family and graduation days, a message on the Parris Island website read.
While sometimes family members dont have proper documentation, it wasnt clear why ICE had decided to station at Parris Island.

Israel Passes Law to Hang Palestinians Convicted of Deadly Attacks
Source: NY Times
Experts say the law was written in such a way as to ensure that it was unlikely to ever apply to Jewish extremists who commit similar crimes.
Israels Parliament passed a law on Monday that would allow the hanging of Palestinians convicted of deadly militant attacks, but critics say it will almost certainly not be applied to Jewish extremists convicted of similar crimes.
The law is a victory for Israels far right and reflects the countrys shift to a harder line against Palestinians in the wake of the Hamas-led attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, and the Gaza war that followed. The death penalty has long been legal in Israel, but only two people have been executed in the countrys 78-year history.
The Knesset, Israels Parliament, passed the law after hours of debate on Monday night over the objections of Israeli justice officials, liberal rights groups and major European allies like Britain and Germany.
It makes death by hanging the default sentence in Israeli military courts for Palestinians convicted of deadly attacks. Israeli citizens both Jewish and Palestinian Arab could also face the death penalty for killings intended to negate the existence of the State of Israel. Experts say, however, the chances it would be applied to Jewish Israelis for attacks against Palestinians are minimal.
Judges will be allowed to make exceptions for unspecified circumstances. The legislation will leave those convicted in military courts with no clear path to receiving a pardon.

Jewish Currents: "Giving Palestinians Fewer Rights than Eichmann Received"
Sociologist Ron Dudai discusses the new death penalty bill that has become a vehicle for the Israeli rights revenge.
The bill, which applies only to the murder of Israelis, has become a symbol of the far rights desire to extract revenge. A death penalty for terrorists is a personal and national obligation, Limor Son Har-Melech, the Member of Knesset who sponsored the legislation, said in a statement. It is a bill that will frighten, added far-right minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. The bill is currently being debated in committee; afterwards, it is expected to return to the Knesset plenary for final voting, where it appears likely to pass into law. In anticipation, the Israel Prison Service has announced that they have already begun designing special facilities where those convicted will be hanged, and training prison employees to perform the executions.
To learn more about Israels past positions on the death penalty, the details of the current legislation, and the cultural and political changes that have led to its advancement, I spoke with Ron Dudai, an Israeli sociologist who studies criminology and human rights. This interview has been edited for length and clarity.

Jim Acosta: Leaving CBS, Independent Media & The Crisis in Journalism Scott Macfarlane opens up
Macfarlane breaks down the limitations of legacy media, including delays in reporting and editorial constraints, and explains why independent platforms allow for faster, more transparent journalism. He outlines his mission at Midas Touch focusing on enterprise reporting that
informs public understanding rather than reinforcing narratives.
The conversation dives deep into the ongoing impact of January 6th, concerns over political whitewashing, and the importance of accountability in American democracy. Macfarlane also responds to criticism from government officials, highlighting the role of fact-checking and the pressures journalists face when covering powerful institutions.
Additionally, the discussion explores the broader media landscape, including the risks of corporate consolidation, the decline of local journalism, and how reduced media diversity could weaken democratic safeguards. Macfarlane warns that fewer investigative reporters and independent voices could have long-term consequences for transparency and public trust.
The interview also touches on the growing divide in public perception of the media, the influence of political rhetoric, and why independent journalism is becoming more essential than ever.
