Tom Cotton, the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said Saturday that he believes that there could be "weeks, not days, of joint efforts" by the U.S. and its allies in Iran after the massive military mission launched overnight. The U.S. and Israel announced a major military attack called "Operation Epic Fury" against Iran early Saturday. Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is presumed dead after the mission, U.S. and Israeli officials said.

Social media videos showed fires breaking out near the entrance of the hotel, which led to four people being injured. More than 3,400 flights were canceled Sunday across seven airports in the Mideast, according to flight tracker Flightradar24. Airports in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar’s capital, Doha, and Manama in Bahrain were among those closed.

(AP) At least nine people were killed and about two dozen were wounded in violent clashes with police and paramilitary forces Sunday after hundreds of protesters stormed the U.S. Consulate in the Pakistani port city of Karachi, authorities said. The violence came hours after the United States and Israel attacked Iran and killed the country’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Police and officials at a hospital in Karachi said at least 25 people were also wounded in the clashes and some of them were in critical condition.

Oil markets were closed on Saturday when the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran that spurred retaliatory strikes across the Middle East. The Iranian military had cautioned ships to avoid the area, saying that “passage through the strait is currently unsafe,” according to Tasnim, a news outlet affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. But a U.S. official said there was no evidence Iran was attempting a military blockade of the strait.

Bolton chuckled to himself and told the voters they made the “mistake” of thinking Trump has any sort of foundational philosophy at all.

Elon Musk’s social media platform is a verifiable mess: In some cases, alleged video footage of the attack shared in posts on X are actually months or years old. In several posts, video footage of apparent attacks have been attributed to incorrect locations. A number of images shared on X appear to be altered or generated with AI. Other posts attempt to pass off video game footage as scenes from the conflict. Under Musk’s stewardship, X has become a haven for disinformation, especially during major breaking-news events.
